Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Changing Name

Minnesota Sports and Entertainment, the operators of the Xcel Energy Center, announced today the expiring sponsor partnership with Xcel Energy will be replaced by Grand Casino of Mille Lacs. As part of this new partnership, all exterior and interior signage will be replaced to identify Grand Casino Arena, including the center ice insignia. All the arena’s signage will be replaced before the start of the 2025-26 NHL regular season. The deal with Grand Casino will commence on September 3rd with a contract length of 14 years.

Monday Fire in Estherville

At 8:30am Monday morning, the Estherville Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in Casey's West on Central Ave. Fire Chief Travis Sheridan reported no sign of smoke upon arrival, but stated that the incident may have been caused by a malfunctioning soda machine. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 40 minutes. No further details have been released.

Dunnell Woman Speeding Under the Influence

On July 11th, a traffic stop near Estherville, Iowa resulted in the arrest of 32yo Stephanie Reynolds of Dunnell, Minnesota on felony charges of Operating While Intoxicated (O.W.I) – 3rd Offense, in addition to charges of speeding and driving without a license. According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the deputy observed the vehicle—under control by Reynolds—driving 89 miles per hour and initiated the stop. Upon investigation, Reynolds exhibited signs of intoxication and a field-administered breathalyzer indicated a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit. Reynolds was transported to the Emmet County Jail and booked on her charges.   Author: [...]

American Legion National Commander to speak in Fairmont

American Legion National Commander Paul E. Dillard is coming to Fairmont and will speak on issues of importance to Minnesota veterans. Among the topics Dillard plans to address are suicide prevention efforts in Minnesota, growing membership at the post level and The American Legion’s partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing. He will visit Fairmont American Legion Post 36 at 300 Downtown Plaza for a social hour, dinner and presentation on Wednesday, April 13, and talk with veterans, community leaders and citizens.
