Two Fairmont Cardinal athletes will be making the move to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference next year to try their hand at NCAA Division II College Basketball.
Brylee Miller and Logan Junkermeier signed their Letters Of Intent in a ceremony Wednesday morning at Fairmont High School.
Miller joined a group of four other freshman to head to Minnesota State-Mankato to play for the 2024 National Champions. Brylee averaged 22 points and 8 rebounds per game for the Cardinals last year and has been on the varsity team since 8th Grade. She already holds the girls career scoring and individual game scoring records, and this season could surpass Mitch Pfingsten’s all time record of 2,113 points to become the all-time leader in points for boys or girls on the court. Brylee’s mom Tammy is a Minnesota State graduate, and her uncle Brandon, a Fairmont High School graduate, is married to Head Coach Emilee Thiesse.
Junkermeier committed to play for Head Coach Brad Bigler at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. Logan, a 6’10” post player, was the Sentinel co-player of the year as a Junior last year. Logan averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds per game for the Cards last season. He received several offers from NSIC Schools after a strong summer season playing for the Minnesota Rise in AAU tournaments.
The Fairmont girls season begins November 25th at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva. The boys first game is December 2nd at Luverne.
