Here’s an update on a few of the local athletes playing baseball at post-high school levels:

 

Brandon Williamson, MCW grad, will start the season with AAA Louisville in the Cincinnati Reds organization. The left-handed starting pitcher will look to make his major league debut later this season.

 

Luke Becker, Fairmont, has signed to play a second year in the Atlantic League. After an outstanding season last year in Lexington, Kentucky, Luke will be part of a team based in Frederick, Maryland this summer. Many of his teammates from last season are also a part of the new franchise, which has yet to be given a nickname. The Atlantic League season begins April 28th.

 

Derek Shoen, Truman, is a senior at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Derek leads the Marauders in batting average at .388, Home Runs with 7, and is second on the team in RBI’s with 22. U Mary is 9-11 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC.

 

Eli Anderson, Fairmont, is a freshman at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Eli leads the Trojans with a .388 batting average, 26 hits in 67 at-bats. NIACC is 1-3 in conference play so far this season.

 

Jacob Crissinger, Fairmont, is also a freshman on the NIACC baseball squad. Jacob has pitched in 6 games so far this season, with a 1-1 record, a 4.36 ERA, and 10 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.
