The Seattle Mariners took Texas Christian University junior pitcher Brandon Williamson 59th overall in the Major League Baseball Draft late Monday. The Trimont native and former Martin County West 3 sport athlete is expected to fly to Peoria, Ariz., on Sunday to sign a contract at the Mariners’ spring training complex. Brandon Williamson was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 36th round of the 2018 MLB Draft after earning all-National Junior College Athletic Association honors at NIACC in Mason City,Iowa , but opted to try major college baseball in Fort Worth, Texas, this spring.

Brandon Williamson is the son of Tod and Twyla Williamson of Trimont.
