Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier is expected to make her season debut tonight. The four-time All-NBA selection is listed as probable to play against the Storm in Seattle after recovering from offseason surgery on both ankles. Collier was having an MVP-level season last year before the ankle issues derailed her campaign. The Lynx presently have the best record in the WNBA.
Gophers’ basketball coach Niko Medved is getting a one-year contract extension. The agreement will keep him over the hoops team through April 2032. Medved led the Gophers to a 15-and-18 record in his first season. The team finished eight-and-twelve in the Big Ten and in eleventh place in the conference.
The Gophers football season is unofficially underway. Media Day took place today at Gibson-Nagurski practice facility. Head coach PJ Fleck is entering his tenth season, and he has high expectations for the 2026 campaign. He adds that he’s confident because the team has a strong core of returning players and a group of youngsters who Fleck believes can contribute right away. The Gophers’ season opener is September 3rd against Eastern Illinois at Huntington Bank Stadium.
The Vikings are mourning the loss of former running back and five-time special teams captain Jim Lindsey, who passed away Sunday in Arkansas. He was 81. Lindsey was selected by Minnesota with the 27th pick in the 1966 NFL draft, and played 84 games with the franchise. Lindsey’s grandson Drake is the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
RAGBRAI 53 riders are at the halfway point. After spending the night in Boone, the route takes cyclists nearly 68 miles Wednesday to Marshalltown. This is the fifth time Marshalltown has hosted overnight. Riders will need a good night’s rest — Thursday’s ride to Independence is the longest day of RAGBRAI 53 at just over 80 miles. It’s also one of the hilliest. RAGBRAI ends Saturday in Dubuque.
