Sherburn native Carsen Musser was selected in the United States Hockey League Phase II draft Wednesday by the Madison Capitols. Musser was chosen in Round 2 with the 17th overall pick. The USHL is one of the premiere development leagues for young hockey players in the United States.

Musser played his freshman season of high school hockey in Fairmont before being invited to join the USA Hockey Under 18 National Development Team. Musser recently traveled to Switzerland with the team for the U18 World Championships. The USA defeated  Sweden 3-2 in overtime to win the Gold Medal in the tournament. Musser was in the nets for the USA for 80 minutes of ice time in the tournament, allowing one goal on 18 shots. Carsen has also committed to a future scholarship to play at Colorado College of the NCHA.
