FAIRMONT, Minn. ― Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont is commemorating 150 years of health care in the community in conjunction with Mayo Clinic Health System celebrating the milestone of its 30-year anniversary.

 

Community health care in Fairmont can be traced back to Dr. David Winslow Hunt, the first physician to permanently practice medicine in Fairmont, beginning in 1871. The first hospital in the community, Hunt Hospital, opened in 1914, and Fairmont Community Hospital was established in 1928. Mayo Clinic Health System took over clinic practice in 1997 and hospital practice in 2001.

 

The public is invited to a community celebration on Sept. 29 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. There will be a short program at 4:45 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
