At their regular meeting on Tuesday night, the board approved the hiring of Chad Brusky as Co-Principal at Fairmont Jr/Sr High School for the 2021-22 school year. Brusky had been serving as the interim Superintendent of the Martin County West School District this past year. Also approved was the hire of Amanda Weihe as a secondary math instructor for the coming school year.

A distinguished list of retiring educators was also recognized. Retiring from the Fairmont School District this year are teachers Joice Forster, Heidi Luhmann, Rochelle Franzen, Kevin Kristenson, and Michelle Grotte, aide Bill Wacholz, nurse Nancy Backer, and CER Director Roni Dauer. Denise Hennis was also recognized for serving 25 years in the district.

The Fairmont speech team was also honored for their second place finish at the recent state tournament. Eight individuals represented Fairmont High School at the tournament with Seniors Tabatha Thatcher and Isabella Geiger winning the state championship in the Duo category.

The last day of school for seniors was set for May 27th.
