THE FAIRMONT PARK BOARD AT TUESDAY’S MEETING HEARD A PRESENTATION FROM THE “KIDS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN” COMMITTEE ABOUT PLANS GOING FORWARD ON A NINE HOLE ADDITION TO THE EXISTING MINI-GOLF COURSE NEAR THE AQUATIC PARK. THE GROUP IS CURRENTLY WORKING TO SECURE MONEY FROM LOCAL AND CORPORATE GRANTS,HOLE SPONSORSHIPS,FUNDRAISERS AND DONATIONS. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTABLE AND CAN BE DROPPED OFF AT THE FAIRMONT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OR CITY HALL. THE ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF THE PROJECT IS $71,480 DOLLARS. THE PARK BOARD WILL BE RECOMMENDING AN AMOUNT FOR THAT EXPANSION IN THE BUDGET REQUEST THEY WILL BE FORWARDING TO CITY.
THE BOARD PUT OFF ANY ACTION ON A REQUEST FROM AVERY WEIGH-TRONIX TO CREATE A NEW CITY PARK IN THE NAME OF FOUNDER RICHARD S. BRADLEY . THE BOARD WANTS MORE INFORMATION ON THE REQUEST AND TO LOOK INTO CRITERIA FOR PARK NAMING IN THE CITY.
PARK BOARD MEMBER JODIE WHITMORE SAYS THE ADVENTURE “INCLUSIVE” PLAYGROUND AT GOMSRUD PARK SHOULD BE OPENING EARLY NEXT WEEK IF ALL GOES WELL.
