THE FAIRMONT PARK BOARD AT THEIR MEETING ON TUESDAY HEARD FROM STREET AND PARK SUPERINTENDENT NICK LARDY ABOUT PROGRESS ON OPENING THE CITY’S PARKS. ACCORDING TO NICK , THE LAP AND DIVE POOLS HAVE BEEN FILLED AND THE ZERO DEPTH POOL AT THE FAIRMONT AQUATIC PARK IS EXPECTED TO BE FILLED TODAY IN PREPARATION FOR THAT PARK OPENING ABOUT JULY FIRST. WINNEBAGO AVENUE SPORTS COMPLEX DIAMONDS ARE OPEN WITH THE FAIRMONTS MARTINS SCHEDULED TO PLAY TONIGHT AT 8 PM. OTHER PARKS ARE ALL READY TO GO WITH SHELTER HOUSES AND RESTROOMS OPEN WITH RESTROOMS SANITIZED ONCE PER DAY.
THE CEDAR PARK CONCRETE BIKE/WALK TRAIL IS COMPLETED BUT STILL CLOSED CURRENTLY AND THE DAY FARM BIKE TRAIL RESURFACING IS DONE.
RONI DAUER FROM FAIRMONT COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECREATION WAS ON HAND AND SAID THEIR PROGRAMS ARE TAKING PLACE INCLUDING PARK PLAY WHICH IS VIRTUAL THIS YEAR. COORDINATORS FOR THAT, EMILY LUBENOW AND PATTY RIEGEL, REPORTED ON PROGRESS THERE. RONI DID MENTION THAT THE FAIRMONT SUMMER RUN THAT NORMALLY IS HELD AT THE END OF JULY IS CANCELLED THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC CONCERNS.
