Two adult males face felony charges after two BB-gun related incidents, including an adult male who was shot while riding his bicycle. According to the Fairmont Police Department 21 year old Brandon Grant Prestridge of St.Peter faces two felony charges- 2nd Degree Assault and 1st Degree Damage to Property. 25 year old Dakota Joseph Haegeman of Fairmont faces a 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon charge.
At 6:26 p.m. Saturday, Fairmont police officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Prairie Avenue on a report of a man who was shot with a pellet gun while riding his bicycle. The man suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and provided officers with a description of the suspect vehicle.
Later that evening, at 7:43 p.m., a person reported that the windows had been shot out of two vehicles in the 600 block of North Prairie Avenue. At the scene, officers found evidence of a pellet gun being used to damage the vehicles.
At 10:16 p.m., a Fairmont police officer located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle from the initial incident and made contact with the two adult male occupants, after stopping the vehicle for a traffic-related offense. The officer observed inside the vehicle several copper-colored BBs similar to the ones recovered at the scene where the vehicle windows were shot out. The officer asked about the BBs and the driver advised there was a BB gun in the car. The driver then handed over a black BB pistol.
During the course of the investigation, the driver Brandon Prestridge admitted to shooting out the windows of vehicles in the 600 block of North Prairie. He advised officers that that he and Dakota Haegeman had been driving around and both had been shooting the gun. Both suspects initially denied shooting the man on his bicycle.
