THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD HEARD FROM HIGH SCHOOL CO-PRINCIPAL ALEX SCHMIDT ABOUT THE SCHOOL’S PLAN TO OPEN WITH IN PERSON LEARNING SAYING THINGS WERE FALLING INTO PLACE NICELY. HE ADDED THAT 53 STUDENTS HAVE DECIDED TO START WITH DISTANCE LEARNING CLASSES THIS YEAR. ELEMENTARY CO-PRINCIPAL MICHELLE ROSEN SAYS JUST OVER 50 STUDENTS HAVE REQUESTED DISTANCE LEARNING AND THAT TITLE 1 AIDES WILL BE ON DUTY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR TO ASSIST STUDENTS.
THE FAIRMONT BOARD APPROVED EXTRA DUTY STIPENDS FOR ACTIVITY WORKERS FOR THE COMING SCHOOL YEAR, TRANSPORTATION CONTRACTS WITH MINNESOTA MOTOR BUS FOR FOUR YEARS, FOOD SERVICE AGREEMENTS FOR THIS YEAR WITH SOUTHERN PLAINS EDUCATION COOPERATIVE,ST.JOHN VIANNEY AND ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN SCHOOL.
THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF DAVID DANKS ,EVENING CUSTODIAN AT FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY, AND APPROVED THE HIRING OF JACOB FLOHRS TO FILL THAT POSITION. CARRIE ROSENBERG, WAS HIRED AS A FULL YEAR LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE ELEMENTARY TEACHER IN GRADES 1 AND 2. BRANDON GREINER HAS BEEN HIRED AS A HIGH SCHOOL MATH TEACHER AND BREANNE GREINER AS HIGH SCHOOL BUSINESS TEACHER. THE DISTRICT HAS HIRED 9 SPECIAL ED PARAPROFESSIONALS FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR.
