Minnesota health officials reported on Monday 5,801 new cases of the coronavirus and 15 more deaths.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, 3,593 people have died because of the virus and a total of 2,413 of those deaths have occurred in long term care facilities.

A total of 318,763 cases have been confirmed in the state since the pandemic began in March.  Of those, 272,608 people no longer need to self isolate.

The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting the deaths of 28 more Iowans from COVID-19 and the positive test results of another 2,000 for the coronavirus.The new cases raise the statewide total of those who have tested positive to 228,996.  Of those, 132,210 are considered recovered from the virus.With 28 more deaths, there have now been 2,403 Iowans who have died from COVID-19.  Of those who have died, 1,063 were residents of long term care facilities.  There are currently 156 outbreaks at long term care facilities in the state.

There are currently 1,162 Iowans hospitalized who have tested positive for the coronavirus.  That number is down slightly from the previous day, continuing the downward trend for the last two weeks.  There are 224 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 151 on ventilators.
