The Martin County Board on Tuesday:

Approved reimbursement request in the estimated amount of $13,322.60 received from Granada Huntley East Chain School District for time period that the School Resource Officer was not on duty due to early closure of school related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Denied a resolution on a 3-2 vote for Modification of all of the Governor’s Executive Orders, recalling the closure of bars, restaurants, and other places of public accommodation, allowing the opening of these establishments.Commissioners Elliot Belgard and Richard Koons voted for modification.

The board voted unanimously to deny a request from Neal Meyer for the county to fly the U.S. Flag upside down until all constitutional rights are restored to all Martin County Residents. Meyer was referring to the Governor’s Stay at Home order during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commissioners set Public Hearing Date to Consider Housing Tax Abatement Application received from Adam and Amanda Smith. Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room – Martin County Courthouse.

Amended a Resolution approving the payment of employees impacted by the MN Emergency Executive Orders and to develop a Preparedness Plan policy for the implementation of policies and procedures in continuing County operations and meeting the public needs due to COVID-19 pandemic. Commissioners also are considering re-opening the courthouse on June 1.

Awarded a bid for Martin County 2020 Facility Improvements for vehicle storage, recorder’s office and Human Services to RW Carlstrom of Mankato, Minnesota in the amount of $489,000.

No action taken on requests regarding After the Fact Building Permit Office.

Approve and authorize the hire of Parker Stevens as part time Seasonal Water Safety Patrol Deputy, effective May 22, 2020

Approve and authorize the hire of Christine Hasek as Account Technician I for the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office, effective May 20, 2020.
