THE COUNCIL ACCEPTED THE PROPOSAL FROM JOE RIEMANN FOR BREWERY ACTIVITY AT THE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING AT 414 DOWNTOWN PLAZA. THE APPROVAL ALLOWS CITY STAFF TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE NEGOTIATION OF A PURCHASE AND DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT THAT WOULD LAY OUT TERMS OF THE SALE. LEE C. PRENTICE AMERICAN LEGION POST #36 ALSO TURNED IN A PROPOSAL FOR THE BUILDING.
THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL ALSO NEGOTIATED A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR TWO ROOMS IN THE OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL BUILDING/SOUTHERN MINNESOTA EDUCATONAL CAMPUS. THE SCHOOL WILL USE THE TWO ROOMS FOR THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECREATION (C E R) PROGRAM. THE LEASE IS FOR A TWO YEAR PERIOD WITH AN OPTION TO RENEW ON AN ANNUAL BASIS THEREAFTER. THE SCHOOL WILL PAY $12,000 PER YEAR ($1,000 A MONTH) FOR THE LEASE.
