STATE TROOPER ASSAULTED

A Minnesota State Patrol trooper was injured Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop on Interstate 90 west of Highway 254 and east of Blue Earth. Minnesota's Department of Public Safety says the trooper was assaulted by occupants of the vehicle during the stop. The vehicle fled the scene. A pursuit began after the assault and was called off a short time later. Suspects were later taken into custody after their vehicle was found abandoned in Albert Lea. The officer was transported to United Hospital in Blue Earth. He was reported to be conscious and stable when transported.   [...]

The Martin County Board Tuesday passed a resolution to establish a 2019 property tax levy of $16.3 million, a 2.94 percent increase from this year. The board also approved a resolution to establish a 2019 county budget of $27.3 million. This is down from $28.3 million in 2018. The board also held a public hearing and adopted a social host ordinance. It would hold individuals responsible for hosting or knowingly providing a place for underage drinking to occur. Two years ago, the governing board of Lakeview Methodist Health Services decided to remodel its facility. Due to the closure of Mayo Clinic - Fairmont's nursing home and childcare center, Lakeview Methodist took in those patients and children as part of their services. It was later decided that a new facility rather than a remodel would make more sense to compensate for the increased amount of patients. HYVEE OBTAINS SHOPKO PHARMACIES

Hy-Vee, Inc. has announced  that it has acquired the business of 22 Shopko pharmacies in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Shopko patient files will merge into existing Hy-Vee Pharmacy locations in the 17 cities where the acquisitions have taken place including Fairmont. All impacted Shopko pharmacy patients will receive a letter from their new Hy-Vee Pharmacy with additional details.The transition in  Fairmont is expected to  take place Thursday Dec 20th.
