Brandon Williamson, a 2016 graduate of Martin County West High School, has been called up from AAA Louisville and has joined the Cincinnati Reds in Denver. He is expected to start tonight’s game for the Reds against the Colorado Rockies. Williamson will become the first Martin County native to play in the Major Leagues.

After graduating high school, Brandon spent two years and North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Williamson then went on to Texas Christian University, pitching for the Horned Frogs in the Big 12. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 2nd Round of the 2019 Spring Draft, becoming one of the top prospects in the Mariners system. He was part of a six-player trade with the Cincinnati Reds in March of 2022, moving up from the AA team in Chattanooga, to the AAA level with Louisville, where he was 2-4 this season in 8 starts for the Bats.

Brandon is the son of Tod and Twyla Williamson of Trimont.
