Fairmont police are investigating a break-in that occurred at Edie’s Restaurant on First Street. Police were called to Edie’s at 6:23 a.m. Sunday after an employee reported the incident. Police say a possible forced entry resulted in a theft of an undisclosed amount of cash and property. The incident remains under investigation, so further details are being withheld. The Fairmont Area School Board Tuesday received a report on the “World’s Best Workforce” from Jodi Kristenson, reading interventionist and literacy coordinator. World’s Best Workforce is a state law requiring schools to adopt a long-term, comprehensive strategic plan to support and improve teaching and learning. Kristenson discussed goals and results, such as the goal of having 94 percent of kindergarten students be in progress or proficient on the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. The Fairmont City Council approved the sale of $2,725,000 General Obligation Improvement Bonds on May 13 at 11 AM to finance the 2019 Street Improvements and approved a Financial Advisory Service Agreement with Northland Securities.
